Saint Barnabas Worship Ministries

Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the priest at Mass. Altar Servers, male or female, may be any active parish member from 4th grade or older. Youth, teenagers, young adults, adults, couples and families are invited to take an active role in this ministry.

Art and Environment

Members of the Art and Environment Ministry work together to enrich our worship space according to the liturgical season.

Daily Prayer

Daily prayer in thanksgiving and petition is the mark of a grateful steward.

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration takes place on the First Friday of every month after the 8 a.m. Mass until the late afternoon. Those wishing to express their love for Christ through adoration are asked to sign up in the church foyer for a 30 to 60 minute time interval on the Sunday before the first Friday.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

After completing archdiocesan and parish training, these ministers assist in offering the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly at Mass. Some ministers take Holy Communion to those who are not able to attend Mass. You must have received the sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) and be mature enough to understand the importance of this ministry. Eighth grade students and older, once Confirmed, are welcome in this ministry.

Gift Bearers

Parishioners present the gifts of bread and wine at weekend Masses. Individuals and families are welcome to take part in this parish ministry.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God in the first and second readings at Mass. Anyone who is willing to proclaim the Word is welcome.

Lenten Stations of the Cross

Parishioners are invited to lead the Stations of the Cross at 6 p.m. one of the Friday evenings during Lent. The only experience required is the willingness to read and follow the Way of the Cross.

Lighting of the Advent Candles

Families and individuals light the Advent candles before weekend Masses during Advent.

Mass Attendance

Participating at Mass and receiving Holy Eucharist strengthens our parish and helps it grow in faith.
