St. Barnabas Social Concerns Ministries
Through parishioner involvement, this ministry provides information and direct assistance pertaining to social issues that concern Catholics including aid for the poor, pro-life and social justice. Regular meetings on the first Tuesday of the month.
Giving Tree
Giving Tree Team Members-Stewards of the parish prepare the Giving Tree, collect, sort and deliver clothing, gifts and necessities for the needy at Christmas and for Christmas-in-July.
Giving Tree Gift Providers-Parishioners donate gifts for the needy through our Christmas Giving Tree project and for Christmas-in-July.
Habitat for Humanity
Building Homes-Parish members help build homes for the needy through Habitat for Humanity. Twice a year we provide lunch for Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
Kids Café
Adults and children (grade six and older) serve meals to needy children two Tuesday evenings a month at Dismas Charities at St. Ann’s Church on Algonquin Parkway.
Legislative Advocacy
This ministry keeps the parish informed of Catholic social teaching on pending legislation.
Respect Life
Parishioners in this ministry promote church teaching of a consistent life ethic on issues such as abortion, euthanasia, abuse and disabilities.
South East Associated Ministries
SEAM is an ecumenical association of twenty churches, including our parish. Through our SEAM ministry, families in need in zip codes 40218 and 40220 are provided some of the following services: food, school supplies, Winterhelp, holiday assistance, information, referral services and financial assistance for rent, utilities and prescriptions. Our stewards provide support through donations of food, monetary gifts and volunteer services through bloodmobiles, tutoring and truancy prevention. Non-perishable food and personal products are collected at Masses on the third weekend of each month.
Walk for Causes
Parishioners take part in annual walks in support of social issues such as Louisville United Against Hunger, Right to Life etc.
